Insulation and baffles
Working in tandem with the ventilation system for your roof and your home is your insulation and baffles. The goal of the insulation is to slow down the transfer of energy. The goal of baffles is to allow for the free movement of air. While insulating, it can be easy to fill a cavity or shove insulation right up against the roof deck. This will slow down or eliminate the movement of air from the intake to the exhaust. This is where baffles come in. With a properly installed baffle, the insulation can be installed right down to the edge of the roof because the baffle will hold the insulation away from the roof deck.
